The U.S. military reportedly blew up 2 more boats in the Eastern Pacific, killing 5 people – bringing the grand total up to 168 people killed (that we know about).
Once again: this is murder. There was no due process. And these strikes aren’t making Americans safer – they’re making us a target.
The national average gas price was $2.98/gallon the day Trump decided to launch this war with Iran. Now it’s well over $4.
What’s worse is this was predictable – Trump just didn’t care.

Calling all CA-51 high school artists: submit your work to the Congressional Art Competition for a chance to have your art hung in the U.S. Capitol!
The deadline is this Friday, April 17th. For more info on how to submit:
I’m voting yes RIGHT NOW to stop Donald Trump’s war in Iran.
It’s sad that politics are part of the calculus for my Republican colleagues when we’re talking about an expensive, deadly war that is already spiraling out of control. BUT they still have time to do the right thing and join Democrats to pass our war powers resolution to end this war.
At every turn, Republicans in Congress have abandoned their duty to the Constitution, willingly given up their power as a co-equal branch, and allowed Trump to do whatever he wants – including launching this reckless war with Iran.
Trump is pushing for a “clean” reauthorization of a law – FISA Section 702 – that allows the government to spy on Americans’ communications with people abroad without a warrant.
We can’t rubber stamp that. We need real reforms.
Trump’s strategy of suing every news outlet that reports stories he doesn’t like won’t change the fact that he’s in the Epstein Files – over and over and over again. He can’t bury the truth this time.
Tax Day reminder that billionaires are paying EVEN LESS this year, thanks to the huge tax cuts Trump and Republicans in Congress gave them in the Big Ugly Bill, while working Americans got kicked off their health care and are struggling to afford gas and groceries.
Tax the rich!
It was so great to stop by the Center’s Trans Day of Empowerment to celebrate Trans Day of Visibility! Especially during difficult times like these, finding and protecting joy in community is so important. 🏳️⚧️
I will NOT support a “clean” reauthorization of FISA Section 702 because the status quo is unacceptable – it literally allows the government to violate citizens’ Constitutional right to privacy. We can keep this country safe AND protect your privacy. (3/3)
This backdoor has been open for a decade – but this week, as we debate renewing Section 702 of FISA, we can finally close it. I’m working with a bipartisan group of my colleagues in Congress to amend FISA, close these loopholes, and protect Americans’ privacy. (2/3)
This week, the House will vote on renewal of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act – aka FISA. As it stands, Section 702 enables the government to surveil conversations between US citizens and foreign nationals without a warrant. (1/3)
It's vitally important that we fight all forms of discrimination and ensure every community is able to thrive without fear of prejudice. That's why I was glad to meet with the San Diego chapter of the Arab Anti-discrimination Committee.
On Yom HaShoah, we mourn the millions of Jews and countless others who were killed in the Holocaust. We must honor them by countering the rise of antisemitism, ending attempts to deny the history of the Holocaust, and fighting to make "never again" a reality.
ICE is traumatizing children like five-year-old Liam Ramos, who is terrified that ICE will detain him again. Jailing little kids doesn’t make us any safer – and American taxpayers shouldn’t be footing the bill for it.
On top of kicking millions of Americans off their health insurance, the Trump Administration has also slashed federal funding for cancer research nationwide, including at UCSD's Moores Cancer Center here in San Diego. Cancer patients and their families deserve better.
I was so proud to secure over $1 million in federal funding for the UCSD Mobile Health Program. These mobile health units meet people where they are, breaking down longstanding barriers to care and delivering high-quality health care for communities across San Diego.
First, Donald Trump started a reckless war in Iran.
Then, there was a HUGE spike in gas prices (about $6 in San Diego!)
Now, we have had the biggest monthly inflation spike in four years.
All thanks to Donald Trump.
Donald Trump’s unnecessary and reckless war of choice in Iran is making it even harder for Americans to afford plane tickets, packages from Amazon, and more.
