This June, during National Gun Violence Awareness Month, I reflect on the lives lost and forever changed by gun violence in our communities. Too many families in NY-05 know this pain firsthand. We must turn awareness into action and pass the reforms needed to keep our neighborhoods safe.
Trump’s travel ban is cruel and bigoted. He is targeting people who do not look like him. America was founded on a society that embraces various cultures and religions. How can we remain a global leader if we close ourselves off to the world? www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-s...
Great seeing @WTO Deputy DG Angela Ellard. US participation in the WTO allows us to shape global rules on trade. The admin should pay our outstanding dues to the WTO & push for reform to advance US interests, so our competitors don't fill the vacuum.
I had a wonderful meeting with Marilyn Galvez, President & General Manager of @ABC7NY! We discussed the importance of highlighting events in #NY05 so families can stay informed about stories happening in Queens.
Republicans' hypocrisy is woven into their horrible budget bill. They claim to be cutting government waste and fraud, but instead are adding $2.4 trillion to the national debt and kicking millions of Americans off of Medicaid. www.nbcnews.com/politics/con...
This #PrideMonth, I stand with the LGBTQ+ community to celebrate love, identity, and the ongoing fight for equality. We honor the trailblazers who paved the way and recommit ourselves to building a future where everyone can live openly and authentically—without fear or discrimination.
RM @meeks.house.gov: Trump and Secretary Rubio weaponizing the US government to punish international students for exercising the fundamental right to free speech is something you’d expect in Putin’s Russia—not America. www.politico.com/news/2025/05...
Over the weekend, I joined @broadchannelvfd, Laurelton, and Rosedale for their Memorial Day parades. It was a pleasure being in the community to honor servicemembers who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. #NY05
I'm deeply saddened by the passing of the Honorable Rep. Charles B. Rangel — the Lion of Lennox Avenue. As a founder of the Congressional Black Caucus and first Black Chair of the Ways and Means Committee, it is on his shoulders that I stand. May he rest in peace. ❤️
This #MemorialDay, we honor the brave servicemembers who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage and selflessness protected our freedom and helped keep America safe. They will never be forgotten. #NYO5
Last week, I met with The Heart of Rockaway's Civic Association & Rockaway Deerfield's Civic Association to discuss the devastating Republican slash to Medicaid, SNAP, and Social Security. I want to thank them both for their time and conversation on behalf of the betterment of our community.
What a great opportunity it was to meet with the NYCHA Tenant Association Presidents. We discussed innovative ways to continue supporting residents and their families in the face of existing challenges. I will continue advocating for diverse and stable housing opportunities.
I had a wonderful time fellowshipping with ministers and community leaders in Rockaway to discuss the impacts of the horrific Republican budget cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other essential services that families rely on. I always appreciate them for their leadership and time.
This week, Republicans tried to jam through their tax scam in the dead of night. Democrats fought back to expose this bill's cuts to Medicaid and SNAP. In today’s Democratic Daily Download, @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social explains how we will keep standing up for hardworking American taxpayers.
