The statute of limitations to prosecute offenses under this taxpayer privacy law could run for up to 6 years—past the current administration.
Just now: during my questions in @waysmeanscmte.bsky.social oversight hearing on the IRS, a tax law expert testified that unauthorized access or sharing of taxpayers' personal data would be a crime, punishable by fine or up to five years in prison.

Because Virginia AG Jason Miyares chose party loyalty over Virginians' wellbeing, this order unfreezing medical research funding doesn't apply in VA. Miyares refused to join the suit on medical research, and the order only applies to plaintiff states. We need leaders willing to stand for Virginians.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau steps in when Americans have been ripped off by big banks or corporations.
It has returned more than $20 billion to consumers since it was founded over a decade ago.
Now the world’s richest man is bragging about ending it.

And just like that, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau homepage, consumerfinance.gov, is being erased. As of January 30, 2025, CFPB enforcement actions resulted in

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is the latest target of Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency.
Elon Musk shares the message that Social Security is “a ripoff.” The Musk-Trump Administration has their sights on Social Security. We are fighting their tyranny and corruption, but Republicans are bending the knee. People need to know this is happening.
Trump hasn't reintroduced the Muslim Ban yet because the White House is following a process to try and avoid having it struck down in court (as it was in his first term, twice), but it is coming. Republicans could stop this, if they had the courage.

If you or a loved one has cancer or Alzheimer's, or are in clinical trials for these or other diseases, you should know the Musk-Trump shutdown of medical research funding is a major threat to our ability to find cures.
We are shouting this out with one voice: beyer.house.gov/news/documen...
Remember as you see news of bird flu cases spreading- the Musk-Trump Administration is weakening our scientific and medical agencies, and preventing them from responding
On Monday I led Dems in Congress to shine a light on Elon's illegal, unconstitutional, immoral, and corrupt destruction of USAID. Last night a federal judge just issued an order temporarily halting Musk's attacks on USAID workers. Here are my remarks Monday at USAID, ICYMI:
