This morning, I joined leaders in #MO05 to shine a light on the sharp rise in food insecurity hitting our communities. During #HungerActionMonth, we’re calling out the Trump administration’s dangerous cuts to federal nutrition programs & standing up for every family’s right to food, dignity, & care.
On #Juneteenth, I stood with @seiulocal1.bsky.social janitors in Kansas City – Black, Brown, and immigrant workers fighting for the dignity of fair wages. The struggle for racial and economic justice is one and the same and I am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity.
The president’s tariff taxes are raising costs at a time when families are already struggling with the cost of living—and it’s beginning to slow the economy. It’s time for Republicans to stand up to this short-sighted and self-sabotaging trade policy.
CNN: "Breaking just moments ago. New data showing consumers cut back spending sharply last month ... this does appears to at least partially be driven by a hangover from tariffs."
From New England to the Heartland, American families in every community are struggling with our national housing affordability crisis, which is why we need an all-hands-on-deck approach to lower costs. That’s why we’re pushing for bold, sustained federal investment - everyone deserves stable housing
As we discuss the steps government can take -at the local, state, and federal level- we’re focused on solutions that expand affordable housing production, strengthen public housing, and lower housing costs for families nationwide.
Proud to join my friend and Congressional Public Housing Caucus co-chair @lynch.house.gov for an important housing forum in his district of #MA08 today. We’re united in our belief: housing is a human right – & it’s more critical than ever that we protect and expand affordable housing options.
It turns out the American people don’t want Republicans to rip healthcare away from 16 million people, make the largest cut to food assistance programs in history, and add trillions of dollars to the debt—just to fund tax breaks for billionaires like Donald Trump.
Harry Enten on Trump's bill: "The amount of disapproval for this bill -- holy cow, my goodness gracious! We're talking about 29 points underwater ... we're talking about a negative 41 net favorability rating among independents. You rarely ever see proposed pieces of legislation as unpopular"
Those who served the U.S. in the military and defended our freedoms should always be above petty politics. It’s completely unacceptable that the president is enabling the refusal of benefits to certain veterans based on their political views or marital status. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
“The bill as passed by the House in May would raise after-tax incomes for the highest-earning 10 percent of American households on average by 2.3 percent a year over the next decade, while lowering incomes for the poorest tenth by 3.9 percent” www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
President Trump said he would fight for working class families. Instead, he’s ripping healthcare away from 16 million Americans, making the largest cut to SNAP in American history, and exploding our national deficit—all to give more tax breaks to billionaires like him.
Funding cuts to Medicaid and other programs included in the sweeping tax-and-spending bill would hurt low-income households financially more than the tax cuts would boost their finances, according to nonpartisan analyses of the bill.
My bill would reauthorize and expand the Choice Neighborhood Program to expand the construction of affordable housing options, while opening the door for working class families to access new opportunities and climb the economic ladder. More here: cleaver.house.gov/media-center...
As American families struggle with our national housing affordability crisis, we need an all-hands-on deck approach to promote the development of affordable housing and rejuvenation of public housing all over the country. That’s why I introduced the Choice Neighborhoods Initiative Act.
“Rural hospitals are sounding the alarm over proposed healthcare cuts in President Donald Trump's sweeping tax-cut and spending package" Rural healthcare is already struggling to stay afloat—but the Big Ugly Bill will decimate these services for Rural America.
Trump Medicaid cuts could devastate rural health services, hospitals warn reut.rs/4k7F3iV
Congressional Republicans are lying about the CBO, which is headed by a Republican, because their Big Ugly Bill would enact the largest redistribution of wealth from the working poor to the wealthiest 5% in U.S. history. See their analysis here:
CNBC: You've been accused of being partisan. You're a Republican CBO DIRECTOR PHILLIP SWAGEL: I am a Republican. You can see over my shoulder, that sheet of dollar bills is signed by the treasury secretary when I was in the Bush administration.
