After 25 hours and 5 minutes of @booker.senate.gov’s historic speech, I’m drawn to his conclusion that the United States has reached a “moral moment” that required a stand against the Trump Administration.
As President Trump and Elon Musk gut our federal health agencies and strip funding for health care initiatives, I’m fighting for our nurses to ensure we can recruit and retain the best professionals to care of our communities.
Thank you to representatives from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing for discussing how Congress can support and invest in professional nursing education and workforce development.
The United States-Czechia relationship is thriving because of the economic ties and democratic values that we share.   It was my pleasure to meet with Czech Ambassador Miloslav Stašek today to discuss why it’s so important to collaborate with allies on the global issues we face.
I wish this was an April Fool’s joke. Today, Trump and RFK Jr. are gutting HHS by firing thousands of people working on global health, substance abuse prevention, & mental/behavioral health. This is a full-scale attack on the guardrails that protect the wellbeing of Americans.
Hearing from all corners of HHS this morning about a total bloodletting — firings of scientists, analysts and many more as delayed RIFs take effect. Many folks didn’t see early AM email and showed up, only to be turned away when badges didn’t work. Was sent this photo of long lines at one HHS site.
🚨🚨🚨2,000+ doctors, scientists, & researchers are sounding the alarm on Trump’s dismantling of U.S. research funding. Now more than ever, it’s time to listen to the experts. We can’t allow Trump to threaten the health, economic future & national security of our country. www.pbs.org/newshour/sho...
For the last 17 hrs and counting, @booker.senate.gov has been delivering a powerful clarion call to stop the wrongs of Trump, Musk, and DOGE. This is leadership in action. That focus on the needs of the American people is a clear contrast to the chaos and confusion of the Trump admin.
Trump is undermining America’s scientific leadership by freezing federal research grants and revoking international student visas. This is BAD for our economy, our global standing, and history of innovation. We can’t afford to go backwards.
As Vice Ranking Member of @houseforeign.bsky.social, I joined more than 200 @housedemocrats.bsky.social in an amicus brief pushing back on Trump and Musk’s damage to our nation’s standing in their unlawful destruction of USAID.
BREAKING: RM Jamie Raskin, Rep. Gregory Meeks, Rep. Lois Frankel, Rep. Joe Neguse, and Leader Jeffries led an amicus brief joined by 202 House Democrats standing up to the illegal and dangerous dismantling of USAID by Trump and Musk ⤵️
It’s unacceptable to conduct any type of national security or military conversation over a commercial messaging app. The American people deserve answers on the full extent of this security breach to ensure the Trump Administration stops this recklessness.
It was a moving day with Rhode Island Veterans on Honor Flight RI’s 32nd trip to visit the DC memorials honoring their sacrifice and service in WWII, Korean, and Vietnam.
Happy 248th Birthday, Artillery Company of Newport! Originally chartered by King George II in 1741, the Artillery Company of Newport has defended our freedoms in major conflicts starting with the Revolutionary War. I'm proud to celebrate its legacy of service and RI's place in shaping our nation.
Named after the first black woman URI graduate, today’s event was an opportunity to discuss past progress and progress I’m fighting to protect as I stay laser-focused on standing up for Rhode Islanders.
We must continue to speak out against these cruel and devastating cuts that would rip away health care and food assistance that young Rhode Islanders rely on to grow up healthy and strong.
Thank you to everyone that participated in today’s roundtable at Woonsocket Head Start where we discussed Republican efforts to cut funding for Medicaid and SNAP.
Proud to celebrate the achievements of Rhode Island youth at the Boys and Girls Club of Pawtucket! Thank you to Phelix, Dariel, Davon, and Grace for demonstrating an amazing spirit of service as you strive to make a positive impact in our community.
