Americans are asking for lower costs. Instead, Republicans are using their spending bill to:
🔴 Close hospitals.
🔴 Defund food assistance.
🔴 Strip away health insurance.
Working people need a break — not billionaires.

2/ I've challenged presidents of my own party. That's how democracy works. We need our Republican colleagues to do the same.
1/ In less than 100 days, this administration has taken an economy that was the envy of the world & is threatening to plunge us into a recession.
The Trump Tariff Tax is tanking the economy, erasing trillions of dollars in retirement savings & increasing costs for the average household by $3,800.
This weekend, I joined hundreds of my constituents in South Hadley who stood up and made their voices heard. They want this administration and Elon Musk to keep their hands off of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, veterans' benefits, and more.

Trump’s half-baked approach to tariffs only drives our allies into the arms of our adversaries.
There is no plan and no strategy, but he’s betting every American's savings on it.
Is this what "improving education outcomes" looks like?
This administration continues to disregard Congress's Article I spending power, and this time at the expense of our students.
All of this to pay for another tax cut for the wealthiest among us.

I know what it means to have that check show up every month without fail.
I don't know what my family would have done if it weren't for Social Security survivor benefits.
We cannot let up in the fight to protect Social Security.
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Congressman Raúl Grijalva, a tireless advocate for working families & a champion for protecting our environment. More importantly, Raúl was a great man, one who loved his family & never forgot where he came from. My prayers are with his family & loved ones.

Republicans' Plan for Social Security:
🔴 Layoff SSA staff
🔴 Leave you on hold
🔴 Tell you Social Security isn't working
🔴 Take their "savings" to fund tax handouts to billionaires
A hard-earned benefit that you have contributed to over the course of a lifetime of work is not an entitlement and it's not a Ponzi scheme.
I know that firsthand. Growing up, Social Security survivor benefits saved my family.
Growing up, I don't know what my family would have done if it weren't for Social Security survivor benefits.
Social Security is an earned benefit, one that is delivered without fail every month.
Not a dime should be cut from Social Security.

This is what we knew all along.
Supporting programs that provide millions of Americans, including children, women, seniors, and individuals with disabilities, with health care, or a tax cut for the wealthiest.
The Republicans are choosing the latter.

2/ The VA is central to the obligation we have to our nation's veterans, and this administration is turning their backs on them.

1/ This is the sign hanging on the door of the Springfield Vet Center after the VA cut thousands of employees in February.
Now, the administration is cutting an additional 80,000 workers and threatening to terminate contracts with critical entities like the National Center for PTSD.
After years of hard work and a lifetime of contributions, our seniors shouldn't have to worry about Republicans meddling with their Social Security.
This is an attack on our nation's seniors - plain and simple.
NEW: In an email obtained by The Bulwark, the acting Social Security administrator made clear they're going to outsource-privatize operations. The expectation is it will be the call centers that seniors depend on.

Pursuing a trade war with our allies does nothing but raise prices & put jobs at risk. The outlook for economic growth has plummeted into the negative, consumer sentiment has plunged, & small businesses & farmers fear what’s to come.
The silence from our Republican colleagues is deafening.
These cuts will affect every part of American life.
Cutting Medicaid, SNAP, and other programs that everyday Americans rely upon to justify giving billionaires tens of millions of dollars? Their response? A family of four will receive $1,700.
Shameful.

2/ Rather than supporting and investing in this beloved centuries-old agency established by Congress through its constitutional authority, we are witnessing another attempt at executive overreach on the part of the President.
1/ The Postal Service is essential to the fabric of our communities, delivering life-saving prescriptions, Social Security benefits, paychecks, tax returns, and ballots.

More than 1.5 million Massachusetts residents rely on Medicaid, including more than 164,000 in MA-01.
They are at risk of losing those benefits because Republicans want to give another tax cut to the top 2%

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
