Merry Christmas #MD03! 🎄 I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday surrounded by loved ones and taking a well-deserved breather after a busy and challenging year. For those who don’t know, my annual Christmas tradition is making some hot cocoa and watching It's a Wonderful Life.

Meeting with you is truly the best part of the job, and I hope to see you in the District or in Washington in the new year!
Over the past 12 months, the highlight of my work has been hearing from you – whether that’s at a town hall or at one of our many community events 🗓️ This year, I criss-crossed #MD03 and attended a total of 243 events, meetings, and site visits – including hosting 21 town halls.
It’s our first year in the running, so for today’s edition of Thrifted and Gifted from Third, here’s a look at our holiday declarations that bring a little piece of #MD03 to Washington.
As this chaotic and challenging year comes to an end, our office had some lighthearted fun ringing in the holiday season by participating in the annual Longworth House Office Building second-floor door decorating contest!
Carderock is also home to the largest wave pool in the world, the Navy’s collection of model ships, and some very cool applied research around 3D printing to support sailors around the world.
Headquartered in Bethesda, Carderock has led the Navy’s maritime technology for over a century and employs nearly 2,000 civilian scientists, engineers, and support personnel.
At each installation, I have the opportunity to see cutting-edge technology, speak directly with our servicemembers, and experience first-hand the unique assets and capabilities these Maryland installations provide to our national security – Carderock was no exception.
Did you know that the design for every U.S. Navy warship since 1940 has been tested here in Maryland?
The final stop in my tour of every major military installation in the Free State: the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock!
ICYMI: I just released my 2025 Year In Review. While this has been a challenging year for so many in our community and our country, I remain grateful for the trust you have placed in me as your representative in Congress. Here’s just a small glimpse into what we were able to accomplish together ⬇️
This year’s annual defense bill has been signed into law. Good news in an otherwise frustrating year: there is real bipartisan oversight of the Executive branch in the legislation. Here are three reasons why President Trump secretly hates the legislation.
From water quality monitoring through the buoy system to convening an expert Task Force to tackle invasive blue catfish, I’m proud to co-lead Congressman Bobby Scott’s Chesapeake Bay WATERS Act to reauthorize this office & continue the innovative work it conducts to preserve our Bay for generations.
NOAA’s Chesapeake Bay Office – located right here in #MD03 – conducts critical work across the Chesapeake Bay Watershed to advance our shared goal of restoring the health and habitat of the Bay.
We will miss them dearly, but I know they’ll go on to do extraordinary things in the District and beyond – best of luck and congratulations!
The time has come for #TeamElfreth to say goodbye to our fall class of interns. From working on important legislative projects to answering thousands of phone calls, they have served #MD03 well.
As a member of the House Armed Services Committee and @equality.house.gov, I’m committed to fighting for the rights of those who selflessly serve our country.
Although it took nearly a year for the full repeal to take place, this was a crucial first legislative step towards creating a more accepting institution after far too many servicemembers were discharged for simply being who they are.
15 years ago today, President Obama signed the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Repeal Act into law, ending the decades-long policy of LGBTQ+ discrimination in our military.
Premiums for tens of millions of Americans skyrocket on January 1st - you better believe we’ll keep fighting for sensible solutions in our districts over the holidays and back in Washington in the new year.
Congress just wrapped up the final votes of this year. Even though four Republicans joined Democrats in forcing a vote on health care, Speaker Johnson sent us home early and refused to take up any meaningful action to lower the cost of health care for millions of Americans.
