I enjoyed catching up with the eighth graders of St. Josaphat about their recent trip to Washington. They had excellent and thoughtful questions about what Congress is really like!
President Trump just shared his ideal budget. Here's a snapshot. www.whitehouse.gov/omb/informat...
Initial reports were wrong — Trump is NOT firing Mike Waltz. Instead, he's nominating him for UN Ambassador. This is a huge mistake. Waltz was part of an alarming national security breach and he needs to take accountability, not a promotion. We need real consequences, not rewards.
Trump is finally taking steps to hold his team accountable for their dangerous use of Signal. But firing Mike Waltz isn't good enough.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared classified information about an ongoing military operation not once but TWICE. He must resign or be fired immediately.
100 days into the second Trump administration. You're less free, our nation's less safe, and everything is more expensive.

More than 100 House Democrats joined the CHC in standing against Trump's efforts to illegally turn the IRS into immigration enforcement agents. The privacy of taxpayer data is sacred, and Members of Congress demonstrated they will not stand idly by.
Following an order from a federal judge, Mohsen Mahdawi—a Palestinian green card holder kidnapped by the Trump administration for expressing his opinion—has been freed from DHS custody.
To everyone who made calls and spoke up on Mohsen’s behalf, thank you. Let’s keep up the pressure.
Just two weeks ago, Trump threatened to deport U.S. citizens. Now it's happening.
Three U.S. citizen children, including a four-year-old with Stage 4 cancer, have been deported to Honduras.
If Trump is willing to do this to children, it won't be long before he targets other vulnerable people.
I know this is a difficult time, but this isn't a spectator sport. We can pass the Equality Act — but we need your help.

Today, we mark 80 years since the liberation of Dachau concentration camp, where more than 40,000 people were murdered.
Anniversaries like this are a reminder of the horrific consequences of antisemitism and other forms of hate. We must do all we can to stamp out bigotry wherever we encounter it.
We want peace in #Ukraine, not appeasement. The Trump administration must follow in the footsteps of President Ronald Reagan by supporting our allies against Russian aggression.
I'm thinking of the victims and families impacted by yesterday's tragedy at a Chatham after-school program. Please join me in keeping the Chatham community in your thoughts.
I'm proud to cosponsor the bipartisan Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act to strengthen and expand the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit. While Trump is driving up housing costs through tariffs and extreme deportations, members of Congress are taking action so families can afford housing today.
Last night, a student was injured in a shooting at Illinois State University. My thoughts are with the victim and the entire ISU community.
Acts of violence like this have no place in our society. We must pass common-sense gun reform to prevent them.
I had the privilege of meeting & thanking 114 Chicago veterans from the Vietnam War, the Korean War, and the Second World War.
With the help of Honor Flight Chicago, these heroes were able to visit the memorials in DC. We must continue to honor our veterans whenever we can, however we can.
I've had the honor of visiting many of our national parks, including Denali in Alaska, which I saw on my 2023 Climate Change Tour. (2/2)
Happy #NationalParkWeek!🏞️ I want to thank all the workers who care for these national treasures, including those wrongfully fired by Donald Trump. To protect our public lands from climate change, we must support those who care for them. (1/2)
Donald Trump's descent into autocracy continues. Today, his FBI arrested a Milwaukee judge for doing her job.
Judge Dugan, we stand with you. We will fight for you and our democracy.
I had a great time visiting the residents at Greencastle of Barrington. We discussed how I'm fighting against the Trump Administration's cuts to Social Security, Medicaid, and affordable senior housing.
I'm relieved there's finally justice for the victims and hope this sentence offers their loved ones closure. May Stephen Straus, Nicolas Toledo-Zaragoza, Eduardo Uvaldo, Katherine Goldstein, Jacquelyn Sundheim, Kevin McCarthy, and Irina McCarthy rest in peace. (2/2)
