So Trump started a trade war with our allies, then immediately backed down for “concessions” that were already in the works. Arizonans want off this rollercoaster. That's why I'm backing a bill to block any President from imposing unchecked tariffs.
Our East Valley Institute of Technology is one of the best career and technical training schools in the country. With over 50 programs for Arizonans to get the skills they need to succeed, I’m proud to support them in Congress. It was a pleasure to stop by & chat with students!
Trump backpedaled on his tariff threat after tanking the stock market and sending Arizona consumers and business leaders into a panic. The U.S. should partner with our allies on critical economic and security issues—not threaten self-defeating punitive tariffs.
Federal workers in Arizona have had their careers put in jeopardy by the Trump Administration’s sweep of executive orders. I met with members of AFGE Local 2382 to hear their concerns. We can’t let important agencies like the VA suffer from short-sighted political plays.
America's absence on the world stage leaves a vacuum that China will eagerly fill. This does not make us safer, stronger or more prosperous. Here's the bottom line: eliminating USAID is bad foreign policy, it's plainly illegal and it will cost lives.
Now, one common misconception is that foreign aid makes up a large portion of U.S. federal spending. In fact, it's a fraction of our budget—a little more than half of 1%. And this relatively small investment is critical for the U.S. maintain our global leadership.
USAID works to slow global migration by going after its root causes—teaching the farming and entrepreneurship skills that allow people to make a living in their own countries rather than making the dangerous journey to our borders.
USAID works to reduce conflict and combat terrorism. Their global disaster relief efforts have helped the loved ones of my constituents—including after Libya's 2023 flood and during the current crisis in Sudan.
Since its founding 60+ years ago, USAID has provided life-saving assistance across the globe—including medical treatment to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, Ebola & polio. Diseases don't recognize borders. An investment in global health is an investment in American health.
Shutting down USAID is not about efficiency—it’s about undermining America’s global leadership. Trump and Musk are throwing away one of the best tools we have to spread American influence abroad, making the U.S. less safe & ceding ground to China. 🧵
After 484 days in Hamas’ captivity, American-Israeli Keith Siegel, Ofer Kalderon, and Yarden Bibas are free to return home to their loved ones. I met with Keith’s wife last year and I know how important this moment is for so many. Now we must bring them all home. www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/liv...
NEW: Tonight I sent a letter—cosigned by 42 of my colleagues—to President Trump calling on him to immediately rescind the 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada. Here's the bottom line: these tariffs will hurt Americans already struggling with high prices and kill U.S. jobs.
This #BlackHistoryMonth, we celebrate Black Americans who have shaped the American story & identity. Whether it was the fight for freedom, rights, or a better democracy—these trailblazers are essential to American history.
I visited with Afghan families at the Arizona Refugee Center this week. Our Afghan allies risked their lives to help U.S. troops. We owe it to them to do everything we can to help them find stability and opportunity here—including passing the Afghan Adjustment Act.
