Today, we honor the memory of the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and the millions of other victims of Nazi persecution. We can never forget this history as we continue to fight antisemitism and hatred in all forms. #InternationalHolocaustRemembranceDay
I will be working closely with Alton Steel leadership, the USW, and our local community to stand with the hardworking men and women of this mill—making sure they have the resources, support, and certainty they deserve. We will not leave these folks behind.
I was honored to sign my name on the beam that will be placed in the brand-new Springfield-Sangamon County Transportation Hub! This project will make it easier to access the transit services that keep us connected and I’m proud to have helped secure the federal funding to make it possible.
Families should never have to choose between paying for a doctor’s visit or covering their rent – but the cost of care is simply way too high. I’m proud to introduce a bill with @repkimschrier.bsky.social to slash out-of-pocket expenses and ensure Americans can access the care they need.
I’m excited to launch our 4th annual “Valentines for Heroes” campaign! You can join me by making Valentine’s Day cards to show your appreciation for our local veterans and active-duty military! Drop them off or mail them to my district offices by February 10th. 💕
Under existing law, there’s a loophole where surviving families are denied the VA burial allowance if their loved one chooses to spend their final days in the comfort of their own home, instead of a VA facility. That’s just wrong. I’m proud to introduce legislation to permanently fix this injustice.
🚨Big win! The House just passed key reforms to rein in Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), lower prescription drug costs, and protect independent pharmacists. After pushing for these bipartisan measures, I was proud to cast my vote and bring them one step closer to becoming law.
Today is the 53rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade. How are House Republicans celebrating? By voting on bills to further ERODE reproductive freedom and push their extreme, anti-choice agenda. It’s time to restore Roe and codify reproductive rights for all.
We had a deal on the table to allow the year-round sale of E15, but House Republicans couldn’t get out of their own way. At a time when markets for Illinois farmers are being decimated by President Trump’s trade wars, they deserve better than this uncertainty.
The bond between veterans who served together is something few outside the military can fully relate to. My bipartisan VET Connect Act would create a secure, privacy-protected database to help veterans reconnect with each other, strengthening support networks and community.
On the campaign trail, Trump pledged to bring costs down “on day one.” Instead, families spent $1,600 MORE last year because of inflation. That’s what happens when you put billionaires over working people.
For rural communities in Central and Southern Illinois, the Postal Service is critical to stay connected. Last week, the House passed three of my measures to push back against USPS plans that will worsen existing delivery delays that my constituents are facing.
Today, we honor the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.’s incredible life dedicated to fighting racism and standing up for civil rights. Now more than ever, we must be unwavering as we carry on his legacy and work to realize his dream of justice, equality, and opportunity for all.
Last month, I brought together seniors from across the district to write letters advocating for the Older Americans Act - an important law that authorizes programs like Meals on Wheels which help folks live independently & age safely at home. This week, I dropped their messages off in the Senate!
I’ve signed onto the No Secret Police Act and the Stop Excessive Force in Immigration Act to ban ICE agents from hiding their identity and restrict their use of violent tactics. They must be held accountable for these actions that endanger our communities.
