…and soon resumes her work at the Pentagon with military construction projects. Previously she was an Air Force ROTC instructor at The University of Texas at Austin and still has family in South Austin -- her husband, a USAF pilot, and a 2-year-old son. 2/3
Years ago, I nominated graduating Bowie High School student Katie Deiters to the Air Force Academy. Now she is a civil engineer, who has served our nation for over a decade, and become a Major. She is completing a year at the Capitol as a defense fellow for my colleague, Congresswoman Susie Lee…1/3
On this day, the course of our nation's history was forever changed. Today, we honor the servicemembers who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor and continue to honor the servicemembers from all backgrounds who bravely serve.
Donald Trump's separation policy was designed to terrorize immigrant parents from coming to the US in search of a better life by stripping them away from their children. To this day, hundreds of children are still not reunited with their parents.
We agree that our great American experiment has survived because citizens have prioritized their institutions over individual leaders—a lesson to remember for the challenging times ahead. (2/2)
Pleased to discuss with @fareedzakaria2.bsky.social his new book, Age of Revolutions, and its insights on the importance of America’s founding ideals of freedom, individual rights, and democracy as well as his observations on a number of international issues. (1/2)

Declaring martial law represents a dangerous departure from democracy. Wrongful imposition today by the president of South Korea is now being reversed within hours because of a strong expression of public protest and outrage. (1/2)
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, struggling amid low approval ratings, declared martial law after accusing the opposition-held parliament of blocking government actions. Here's what to know.
I am pleased she could contribute to our efforts in strengthening cooperation with our close and important ally, Norway. Wishing her success as she begins this important and exciting next chapter of her career. (2/2)
Cecilie Juul Stensrud, who has been working in my Washington office as a visiting Fellow from Norway, specializing in Foreign Affairs and Defense, will return home to become the State Secretary to the Minister of Defense. (1/2)
This builds upon $3M in federal funding I’ve previously secured to assist in addressing this serious public health concern. I remain committed to partnering w/Travis County & advocating for resources to turn the tide against this epidemic. Together, we can continue to support recovery & save lives.
Pleased to join Travis County Judge Andy Brown, Commissioner Ann Howard, Travis County Medical Examiner Keith Pinckard, EMS Chief Robert Luckritz, Asst Chief Stephen White, Dr. Nicholas Yagoda w/CommUnity Care & Maggie Luna w/Texas Harm Alliance to announce $1.6M to address the opioid crisis.
Keith Kellogg, whom Trump named as his special envoy to Russia and Ukraine, has proposed a moratorium on its NATO membership and would leave Putin in control of all currently occupied Ukrainian territory. Trump would become the President who lost Ukraine and rewarded a war criminal.
Now with more than one thousand days of war, Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine represents the deadliest war in Europe since World War II. More than 12,000 civilians killed, almost 20,000 children kidnapped to Russia.
