Happy birthday, @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social! Grateful to stand with you—and all @housedemocrats.bsky.social—in supporting working families, lowering costs, and defending our democracy.
I joined @scanlon.house.gov & @houlahan.house.gov at the Brandywine Museum of Art, just across the line in Pennsylvania, where we heard from museum leaders about how federal support made their recovery from Hurricane Ida possible—& the work now underway to fortify the museum against future flooding.
2/ While the Trump admin ignores that truth, I was proud to bring @scanlon.house.gov & @houlahan.house.gov to the Veolia PFAS Water Filtration Plant in Wilmington to spotlight the progress Delaware is making in removing PFAS—or “forever chemicals”—from our water systems & protecting public health.
1/ Access to clean water isn't a luxury—it's a fundamental right.
Call it the Trump Effect.
3/ Conversations like these are a powerful reminder of why it’s so important to keep expanding opportunities for small business owners and entrepreneurs across our state.
2/ We toured several small businesses—each one a vital part of not just the local community, but Delaware’s economy as a whole. We wrapped up the day at Focus Pharmacy, an independent pharmacy that's celebrating six years in business!
1/ It’s always great to be back in Smyrna and Clayton! Today, I met with Mayor Gott and other town officials—as well as Clayton Vice Mayor Paisley—to discuss how we can support and continue to strengthen these two towns that are rich in history and community.
2/ Instead of building on that legacy, Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans just pushed through their budget that includes the largest cut to Medicaid in American history—and paves the way for Medicare cuts down the line.
It’s a betrayal—plain and simple. And Delawareans deserve better.
1/ It’s been 60 years since President Johnson signed Medicare and Medicaid into law—two landmark programs that have empowered working families, older Americans, and our most vulnerable for generations.
3/ I'll continue working collaboratively with the Army Corps and DNREC to ensure this project moves forward as quickly as possible and to fight for more federal funding in the years ahead to guarantee we are protecting all of our towns from extreme weather and sea-level rise.
2/ Beach replenishment is about the survival of some of Delaware's most cherished communities, and I'm so grateful to my friend Kathy Lock and the Bay Beach Association for all of their work to protect our coastal bay towns.
1/ It was great to be in Slaughter Beach alongside mayors, neighbors, state officials, and the Army Corps of Engineers to discuss the nearly $60 million project to replenish coastal communities along the Delaware Bay.
2/ I’ll keep uplifting the real-world effects felt by patients and providers—and do everything I can to safeguard the care Delawareans deserve. I'm grateful that we have leaders like Dr. Tam working to creatively navigate a very difficult situation.
1/ I met with Dr. David Tam from Beebe Healthcare again today for a sobering conversation about how Trump and Congressional Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill will impact rural hospitals. There’s no sugarcoating it—the consequences will be both devastating and deadly.
2/ Our veterans have had our backs—and now, we must have theirs. I’ll keep working to ensure Delaware’s veterans and their families have access to the care, resources, and respect they’ve earned.
1/ I was proud to join Senator Chris Coons, @bluntrochester.senate.gov, Governor Matt Meyer, and the Delaware National Guard this morning for the annual Veterans Summit.
In case you’ve got any extra cash lying around (in Trump’s economy??), the Trump administration would now like you to Venmo Uncle Sam to help pay down the $3.4 trillion that they just added to the national debt.
Don't believe me? See for yourself: pay.gov/public/form/start/23779454
2/ I’m proud to be an original cosponsor of the Raise the Wage Act, which would raise the federal minimum wage to $17/hour by 2030.
It’s past time to raise the wage.
1/ It’s been 16 years since Congress last raised the federal minimum wage—but wages have remained stagnant and failed to keep up with inflation. Workers in Delaware and across the country deserve a living wage.
