2/ We discussed our countries’ economic ties and the importance of a strong NATO alliance. I’m grateful for Iceland’s partnership and hopeful we can continue working together to advance human rights and strengthen transatlantic collaboration.
1/ I had the honor of meeting with Ambassador Svanhildur Hólm Valsdóttir of Iceland to discuss strengthening U.S.–Iceland relations and our shared priorities in the Arctic.
2/ I'm so grateful for the lifesaving work our nurses do every single day despite strained health care infrastructure and consistent attacks from this administration. Through it all, nurses continue to show up to keep our communities healthy and safe.
1/ Happy National Nurses Day! Delaware nurses are the central nervous system of our health care system—they work around the clock to ensure their patients are cared for with compassion and dignity.
I recently visited a few local businesses in downtown Smyrna, where I had the pleasure of meeting impactful and innovative neighbors who are shaping their community. During this National Small Business Week, I am celebrating the work they do to invest in and power our economy.
Happy Teacher Appreciation Day! I am so thankful for all of the Delaware teachers that are shaping lives every single day through their support and leadership.
As a proud supporter of our state’s teachers union, I’ll continue to advocate for the pay, resources, and respect our educators deserve.
I enjoyed meeting with some folks from the Brandywine School District, and I’m grateful for all the work they’re doing to support our students and advocate for technical education in the First State.
House Republicans seem to have an interesting understanding of “delivering for the American people”.
Today is Int’l Workers' Day, a time to uplift the laborers & unions who power our economy. Working Delawareans deserve an economy that reflects the work they do every single day and I will keep pushing policies that prioritize fairer wages, benefits, and better working conditions.
Today is day 60 of the president’s war with Iran and one thing is certain—it was illegal on day one and it's illegal on day 60.
I don’t swear much—but this week, Republicans in Congress are trying to leverage the actions of an attempted assassin to justify spending millions of taxpayer money on his luxurious new ballroom, while my neighbors are barely staying afloat. So, pardon my French.
My statement on the SCOTUS Ruling in Louisiana v. Callais:
Moments like the Artemis II mission are both scientifically significant and civically healing, but they depend on a president willing to come before Congress to make the case for space exploration—not an administration that fails to provide transparency to the American people.
It was great to connect with NeighborGood partners in DC! The Nat’l NeighborWorks Assoc is doing great work for our state of neighbors, from advocating for affordable housing to strengthening financial education resources. I’m always happy to talk about how I can help their efforts in Congress.
It was a pleasure to connect with so many University of Delaware alumni and current students in D.C. at the UD Alumni Fly-In! Young people are the future of our democracy so it was wonderful to speak with these emerging community leaders to discuss what it means to be a public servant.
I was grateful for the chance to spend some time with Delaware’s winner of the Congressional App Challenge, Evina Shingavi! Evina’s app, Respondify, is a digital service connecting trained volunteers to emergencies in real time, ensuring critical life-saving assistance reaches people faster.
2/ While we’re still learning more about what happened, we must never accept a world where violence like this is common — or allow ourselves to become desensitized to it. Praying for everyone’s continued safety.
1/ I’m grateful for the actions of law enforcement tonight that kept people safe at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in DC.
It’s always great to speak with the Delaware Healthcare Association. These advocates are committed to advancing health care for our state of neighbors, and it is an honor to work alongside them in Congress to find solutions for Americans everywhere.
I was honored to join Delaware’s Sikh community for a Vaisakhi celebration at the Sikh Center of Delaware in New Castle. It was a beautiful gathering that reflected the values of faith, service, equality, and resilience, and I enjoyed the chance to gather and share a meaningful celebration.
