We should be:
Closing tax loopholes
Making the ultra-wealthy pay what they owe
Strengthening programs that lift up families and support American agriculture
🧵6/8 This bill discards 90% of the traditional farm bill to push a partisan agenda.
That includes gutting the nutrition title—an essential pillar of both rural and urban economies.
🧵5/8 Republican leadership claims these cuts help farmers.
They don’t.
Instead, they fracture the bipartisan farm bill coalition and destabilize farm country by reducing consumer purchasing power.
🧵4/8 This isn’t just a safety net issue. It’s an economic issue.
SNAP supports:
$20 billion in direct wages
Jobs in trucking, warehousing, food production, and retail
Local economies, especially in rural areas where SNAP use is high
🧵3/8 Who gets hit the hardest?
5 million seniors relying on food assistance to make ends meet
10 million children whose health and development depend on consistent nutrition
Millions of veterans and people with disabilities

Eliminate $30 billion in income for farmers
Jeopardize nearly 400,000 jobs in the food supply chain
Harm 27,000+ rural retailers that serve high-SNAP-use communities
