Susan Monarez was CDC director for under a month, and she displayed admirable integrity in her defense of science-backed policies, including vaccine standards. CDC and the nation are worse off without her and the other courageous senior leaders who left the agency yesterday.
Horrified and heartbroken by the tragic shooting in Minneapolis. The students, staff, and families at Annunciation Catholic School are enduring what no community ever should. We cannot continue to accept this as normal. Enough is enough. Congress must act immediately to end this crisis.
Happy Women’s Equality Day! As co-chair of the @reprocaucus.bsky.social, I am committed to advocating for and prioritizing policies that protect, secure, and expand women’s rights and freedoms, including access to reproductive health care.
Trump promised to make life more affordable — then he signed the Big Bad Bill, handing billionaires a tax break & leaving working families with the bill. House Democrats & I are fighting so hardworking Americans can live a good life, afford the housing & health care they need, & retire with dignity.
Last night, the American Academy of Pediatrics released an evidence-based childhood vaccine schedule. As RFK Jr. shirks his duties to the people & spreads misinformation, I’m glad America’s doctors are stepping up. I’m fighting to restore HHS to a science-focused agency that everyone can trust.
Trump & his GOP allies have done nothing to lower costs. In fact, their Big Bad Bill rips nutritional assistance & health care from hardworking Americans to make HISTORIC wealth transfers to the ultra-rich. It's time for Republicans to stop bowing to Trump & start delivering for the people.
We are just 8 months into the Trump admin & we are seeing unprecedented attacks on the LGBTQ+ community. As a founding Member of the Equality Caucus, I have defended the rights of every American to live as their authentic selves, & I will never waver in standing up for the LGBTQ+ community.
Trump refused to call in the National Guard on January 6 when our democracy was under attack. Now he’s sending them in and seizing control of DC police to consolidate power. This is authoritarianism, plain and simple.
The Trump Admin is trying to make it harder for Members to meet with detained constituents like Jeanette, requiring advance notice that delays oversight & limits transparency. But I will keep fighting for Jeanette & for my right to carry out these oversight responsibilities on behalf of Denverites.
Throughout the years, Jeanette has complied with immigration check-ins and followed the rules. She is a valued member of our community and deserves the chance to continue her life here and pursue the American dream. That’s why I introduced legislation to grant Jeanette permanent legal status.
I joined CO Congressional Democrats to tour the GEO ICE detention facility in Aurora — a key part of our jobs as Members of Congress. While there, I met with Jeanette Vizguerra — a longtime Denver community leader and immigrant rights advocate — who was detained outside her job at Target in March.
Huge thanks to the 12,000 participants who tuned into my tele-town hall last night! There’s nothing more important than hearing from Denverites and tackling the issues that matter most to you.
The Big Bad Bill has put affordable care on the line, hiking insurance premiums by an average of 28% across Colorado. Today, I joined health care leaders and advocates at HCA HealthONE Rose in Denver to stand up for Denverites because I won’t let them pay the price for Trump and the GOP's cruelty.
Big news: the Denver Health Dental Assistant School is now open! 🦷 I was proud to secure federal funding to help get this project over the finish line, which means more providers and new opportunities for Colorado students to train and serve our community.
🚨 The GAO just confirmed the Trump Administration broke the law by blocking NIH grants & slowing lifesaving research. It's time for the GOP to get serious — we cannot let Trump continue to illegally undermine lifesaving research or surrender our biomedical leadership. There's too much at stake.
The GOP attempt to redistrict mid-decade is a blatant power grab. Voters should pick their legislators, not the other way around. In light of these anti-democratic efforts, states like CO that have independent redistricting commissions should stop their work until everyone plays by the same rules.
Congrats to Denver International Airport on the opening of its new East Security checkpoint. It was great to see this state-of-the-art facility, as well as DEN’s air traffic control tower, & I look forward to seeing this hub continue to grow & serve as a gateway to all that Colorado has to offer. ✈️
