This week, @delauro.house.gov and @kirstengillibrand.bsky.social reintroduced the FAMILY Act – legislation that would create a universal paid family and medical leave program. If our leaders really want to support working families in this economic crisis, they can start here.
Congratulations to New Haven’s cherished Claire’s Corner Copia on 50 outstanding years. Claire, thank you for all you do for your customers and your dedicated staff. Your one-of-a-kind dedication, vision, and creativity is undoubtedly the recipe to your success.
The closure of PosiGen's operations in CT and the loss of nearly 80 jobs is just the latest casualty of Trump's policies.    The administration's reckless & destructive attacks on clean energy continue to cost working families - lost jobs and higher electric bills.
Americans know the way forward: 80% of swing-state voters support paid leave. Nearly 3/4 of independents and over 2/3 of Republicans agree. If paid leave is bipartisan to the public, it should be bipartisan in Congress. We must pass paid leave now.
Today, working families are stretched to the breaking point in this cost-of-living crisis, yet the U.S. remains the only industrialized nation without paid leave. The FAMILY Act is our next step forward.
Boar's Head keeps ignoring food safety and endangering public health. Their decision to reopen the Virginia facility that caused a deadly listeria outbreak, despite ongoing food safety failures at their other facilities, should be questioned.
Working families lose $22.5 billion per year in wages without paid family and medical leave. We force hardworking people to choose between their health or family and their paycheck. That's why I authored the FAMILY Act, so all workers have the financial security to respond to life’s challenges.

Rep @delauro.house.gov & @kirstengillibrand.bsky.social just reintroduced the FAMILY Act! 27% of the workforce has paid family leave from their jobs. The FAMILY Act would address America’s paid leave crisis & benefit working people, families, and businesses. We’re #ForFAMILY #PaidLeaveForAll. 👏
The Food Safety Caucus has some serious questions for Boar’s Head as they reopen their facility at the center of a deadly Listeria outbreak last year. They must come before us to answer them. Americans deserve answers. We will get to the bottom of this. apnews.com/article/boar...
Congress should be united in finding ways to save lives & end gun violence. I urge my Republican colleagues to put the lives of our children above partisan politics. Listen to the thousands of families affected like Kristin Song's & pass legislation like Ethan's Law.
As Trump's tariffs and extreme funding cuts continue to kill jobs and reduce investments, American families are paying the price. In the middle of a cost of living crisis, our families need real solutions.
Constance Baker Motley was a force. Born in New Haven to immigrant parents, she broke barriers throughout her legal career & made history as the first Black woman to serve as a federal judge. I'm proud to introduce legislation to honor her legacy with a Congressional Gold Medal.
Netanyahu will never be a partner for peace because his goal is complete occupation of Gaza and the West Bank. Abandoning a two-state solution means endless conflict, which the Israeli people should reject.
Russia’s war on Ukraine is not just about Ukraine. Putin wants to break NATO & dominate Eastern Europe—as a start. Trump must be clear: We will always stand with Poland, Ukraine, & our allies for freedom & democracy against Putin’s aggression. We are not Russian puppets.
September 11, 2001, is a day that we will never forget. Today, we stand in remembrance of the thousands of innocent lives lost and honor the survivors, first responders, and families whose lives were forever changed.
Republican leadership stacked this year's National Defense Authorization Act with partisan riders, prioritizing political points over supporting our servicemembers. I cannot support the bill in this form.
