Millions of Americans who work a minimum wage job should haven't to live paycheck to paycheck and struggle to survive. They deserve the dignity of a wage that helps them provide for themselves and their families.
Americans across the country have witnessed masked, armed, and unidentified individuals apprehending people, sometimes violently. Lack of any meaningful credentials by ICE agents has even inspired criminals to easily impersonate law enforcement in an effort to deceive their victims and the public.
Today, I, along with Representatives Gonzalez, Chu, Kamlager-Dove introduced the Visible Identification Standards for Immigration-Based Law Enforcement (VISIBLE) Act of 2025. This bill would require immigration enforcement officers to display identification during public enforcement actions. 🧵
ICYMI: Speaker Johnson and Republicans wrote a toothless resolution on the Epstein files and now won't even bring *that* up for a vote so that they can give Donald Trump more time to distract the American people from his broken promises and secrets
Tariffs are a tax on consumers. This latest round will increase costs on a product millions of Americans use every day and contradicts the empty promises by Trump and Republicans to lower your costs.
"Brazil needs to pay their fair share. These tariffs accomplish that." Regardless of how you feel about the trade relationship we have with Brazil, these tariffs won't be paid out of pocket by the Brazilian farmers and corporations. They'll be passed onto the consumers: us.
Roasted coffee prices are up 12.7% and instant coffee jumped 16.3% in June compared to last year. With Trump announcing a 50% tax on imports from Brazil, on top of the 10% tax that already exists, your morning coffee is about to get a lot more expensive. www.npr.org/2025/07/21/n...
I literally think the current system is needlessly difficult for migrants and cruel to undocumented immigrants. Since the ‘96 bill, the US has made people more deportable while restricting opportunities. Not sure who you are owning here, but I’ve been an immigrant advocate my entire life.
I know plenty of people are frustrated in the comments, but my view is that this is one single step in the right direction and doing nothing isn’t an option. Guaranteeing legal protection for over 10 *million* undocumented people in our country matters to me.
