NEWS: A federal judge has blocked Trump from dismantling the CFPB.
Over 200 of my Democratic colleagues and I filed a brief in support of the lawsuit to save the CFPB and protect American consumers from scammers and fraud.
Trump's agenda is losing in the courts and we’re not letting up.

Yesterday, Speaker Johnson tried to kill a bipartisan resolution that would allow new moms to vote by proxy.
After he failed, he canceled all business for the rest of the week. Republican leadership would rather quit and go home than let new moms vote.

UPDATE: We've hit our 350-person capacity for my upcoming McHenry County town hall, so registration is now closed. This event will be livestreamed.
IL-11 spans eight counties, so we will have more in-person town halls in different parts of the district over the coming weeks and months. Stay tuned!
With all the chaos going on in Washington, it's always nice to come home and spend time with brilliant, young minds.
This past weekend, I had the chance to attend the Intercontinental Scholastic Chess Tournament in Aurora and watch teams from all over the world compete right here in IL-11!
Mark your calendars! Wednesday, April 16, I'll be hosting an in-person town hall at McHenry County College at 7:00 PM CT. This is a ticketed event and registration will be required. This event will be livestreamed.

Dr. Peter Marks is a respected and qualified public servant who has long overseen vaccine regulation at the FDA. RFK Jr. just forced him out.
RFK Jr. is anti-vaccine, anti-science, and only wants people around him who will confirm his baseless conspiracies. Dr. Marks's departure is a great loss.
Dr. Katie Bouman and the Event Horizon Telescope team changed science forever when they captured the first image of a black hole in 2019.
Dr. Jane Wright's research revolutionized cancer treatment, improving its effectiveness and saving millions of lives.
"The First Lady of Physics," Dr. Chien-Shiung Wu, worked on the Manhattan Project and changed how we detect radiation and enrich uranium.
Dr. Grace Hopper was a computer scientist, mathematician, and rear admiral in the U.S. Navy. Her contributions have shaped the way that we program computers to this day.
As a scientist, I know that progress in STEM relies on diverse perspectives and ideas. This Women’s History Month, let's celebrate the many women in STEM whose groundbreaking contributions have shaped our world and continue to inspire future generations.
Once again, the Trump Administration is ignoring science, putting American lives at risk, and leaving us dangerously unprepared for future public health crises.

As the top Democrat on the Financial Institutions and Monetary Policy Subcommittee, I questioned witnesses on how Trump and Elon's efforts to shut down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau would benefit everyday Americans.
Hint: It won't.

Last week, I had a productive tour and sit-down with the staff at Home of the Sparrow—a housing support nonprofit in McHenry County.
We discussed how they could be impacted by potential federal funding cuts and how Congress can better address the housing crisis.
ICYMI: I just sent out a newsletter on Trump's illegal attempt to dismantle the Department of Education. Read it at foster.house.gov/newsletters

Today, Republicans on my subcommittee are holding a sham hearing on tweaks to CFPB policies and organization, which feels a bit like them rearranging the deck chairs on the Lusitania after torpedoing it.

Last week, I was proud to present Pace Suburban Bus with $1 million in federal funding to purchase five battery-electric paratransit buses for McHenry County.
These new buses will bring more reliable public transportation and result in cleaner air for McHenry County residents.
This level of incompetence is appalling. This was an egregious mishandling of classified information that should have every American on high alert.
Congress must hold the Trump Administration accountable.
