I’ve been sounding the alarm for months that cuts to FEMA and the National Weather Service could have severe consequences on emergency management. We need an after-action review of what happened in Texas and we must ensure these agencies have what they need to keep people safe.
The flood news coming from Texas is devastating. I’m praying for the safe return of all missing kids and mourning for families of those lost. As a former emergency manager, I know it’s critical our emergency responders have every tool they need to save lives & deliver relief.
The death toll mounts in the catastrophic Texas floods as officials search for more than 20 children unaccounted for at a summer camp.
No matter how Republicans tried to game the system to pass their budget, @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social has led our fight against it. His historic remarks on the floor today reaffirm Democrats’ commitment to working families and give voice to just how destructive this budget will be for them.
Every single House Democrat will stand up for the American people. We just need four Republicans to join us.
We're lucky to have such an innovative and impactful school right here in our backyard with Florida Atlantic. I look forward to working with President Hasner to build on its legacy and keep FAU a top spot in the nation for education and research. Go Owls!
This National Postal Workers Day, join me in thanking the dedicated postal workers at USPS. From rain to heat to extreme weather, these men and women work tirelessly to get our mail where it needs to go, and I'm proud to have their backs as we fight to protect this resource.
Glad to join leaders from Peru recently to celebrate the US-Peru relationship. As a member of @houseforeign.bsky.social, I’m committed to working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to continue strengthening our longstanding diplomatic and economic ties.
As gang violence continues to displace millions in Haiti, this Administration’s own State Department says it’s not safe to travel there. Ending this program for law-abiding Haitians who have contributed to South Florida’s prosperity will threaten lives and our global standing.
Absolutely ridiculous. DOGE hasn’t made a single thing more efficient. I led my colleagues to stop DOGE’s attempt to completely eliminate the Social Security phone line, and we can’t let them render it useless now. Our seniors need this resource to access benefits they earned.
Ghost guns are untraceable and can too easily be obtained by dangerous individuals. I’m proud to reintroduce my bill to ban 3D gun blueprints with Sen. Markey, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Rep. Schneider to curb the threat of gun violence that has scarred too many communities like Parkland.
Today marks 10 years since the Obergefell decision legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide. This was a historic step forward, and it’s a reminder of what we still must do to advance LGBTQ+ rights and protections, including by finally passing the Equality Act into law.
The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act was signed into law 3 years ago today, becoming the most significant gun violence prevention law in decades. I’m fighting every day in Congress to build on its progress and ensure no community faces the same tragedy as my hometown of Parkland.
