CO's snowpack is at a decade's low, which could make this fire season even worse. Trump's response? Cut Colorado's public lands workforce & gut wildfire mitigation. That's a disaster in the making. I'm demanding the Forest Service act now to protect our communities before it's too late.
No one in this country wants another endless war. Trump & his administration are wildly incompetent. That's why I voted for the War Powers Resolution to reaffirm Congress's constitutional authority to declare war & rein in this rogue president who consistently undermines the rule of law.
Americans should not be left stranded in a time of crisis. Trump unilaterally dragged us into this conflict with no clear plan for keeping Americans safe. Please keep contacting the State Department as well as our office so we can support you in any way we can.
Happy Holi - a celebration of color in the world, triumph over evil, and hope found in our community. To everyone celebrating around the world, may this Festival of Colors bring you joy, hope, & new beginnings. In a time when so much can feel divided, moments like this remind us to lead with light.
Thank you to Mayor Johnston for standing up to this rogue admin & its ICE agents terrorizing our communities. When I was in the state legislature, I supported measures to make sure our local law enforcement does NOT cooperate with ICE. Colorado will always stand up for the safety of our residents.
Trump is disproportionately hurting women and families. As we fight for our future, we need to center women & people who understand the real challenges families are facing - from childcare to health care & more. My latest in The Denver Post on why women leaders matter now more than ever ⬇️
It's been 14 years since Trayvon Martin was killed simply because of the color of his skin. My heart breaks for his family, who never got justice. No parent should fear for their child's safety because of their skin color. We must keep fighting for a country where every child is protected and safe.
Today marks 14 years since Trayvon Martin was shot and killed while walking home. He had dreams to attend college in Florida and become a pilot, but he was murdered at age 17.
The Supreme Court's decision confirmed what we already knew — Trump's tariffs are ILLEGAL. The Supreme Court has done what it's supposed to do by finally putting a check on Donald Trump's lawlessness and complete abuse of power.
Everyone in the United States has fundamental rights under the Constitution, whether you are a citizen, a legal resident, or an undocumented immigrant.   Make sure you know your rights to protect yourself and your neighbors. Please visit my website to learn more & make sure to share widely:
Colorado's future depends on its water supply. I was grateful for the opportunity to speak with our state's leading experts at Colorado Water Congress.  Ensuring federal investments for water security shouldn't be partisan. Thanks to the people who are doing this critical work every day.
Love is in the air, but so are rising prices. While you're picking out something sweet, you will likely be paying more for less. Due to Trump's tariffs, even the cost of boxed chocolates has jumped by 11.8%. I hope the future brings more love, fewer tariffs, and new leadership.
The numbers are in & unsurprisingly, Trump's disastrous policies have brought devastating consequences to our economy. In just the last year, we've lost 10,000 clean energy manufacturing jobs.  Costs are up & jobs are down – and Colorado families are paying the price.
No surprise that January 6th insurrectionists pardoned by Trump continue to break the law and make us all less safe. If you're willing to try to overthrow the US government, you're capable of a lot of other atrocious things, just like our president.
Mike Johnson has used every trick in the book to keep Trump's tariff regime in place while the rest of us foot the bill. But late last night, we defeated their latest procedural scheme to silence anyone who tries to speak out against Trump's tariff tirade.
House Republicans were back this week with another attempt to sell off our public lands to the highest bidder.  CO's public lands are essential to our economy, our well-being, and our way of life. That's why I voted against their bill that puts corporate profits ahead of our public lands.
Trump refuses to extend the temporary protected status of 350,000 Haitians here in the US. Many of these people are health care workers who take care of our most vulnerable seniors. I've joined Rep Pressley's petition to force a vote in the House to protect their status.
