ICE agents aren't being directed to protect Chicago, they're being told to use their badge to profile people of color. The Border Patrol's "Operation At large" is racial profiling disguised as law enforcement.
ICE admits it’s doing racial profiling in downtown Chicago: “Then obviously the particular characteristics of an individual, how they look, how do they look compare to, say, you?” he said to the reporter, a tall, middle-aged man of Anglo descent.” chicago.suntimes.com/immigration/...
Mifepristone is safe, effective, and trusted by millions.   The GOP's assault on reproductive rights is putting lives at risk. Health care decisions should be made by patients and their doctors, not politicians.   We must continue to fight against any efforts limiting access to abortion care!
HHS Secretary RFK Jr. opened an investigation into the safety of the abortion pill mifepristone, as the anti-abortion movement continues to push the administration to restrict access through lawsuits and policy.
I'm joining Members of the Illinois Congressional delegation in demanding answers from ICE about Broadview’s deportation practices and recent use of force. Transparency and accountability are non-negotiable. We are, and always have been, a nation of immigrants.
Illinois Democrats say they are trying to discuss conditions at the ICE Broadview detention facility, which they say is “desperately needed as legal service providers and our constituents have raised concerns about the poor conditions at Broadview.”
Trump and Republicans have used their control of the government to increase costs on everything from groceries to health care.   I will vote for a bipartisan budget that extends health insurance tax credits and protects Americans from price spikes.
The FTC’s settlement with Amazon over Click-to-Cancel is far from justice. Big Tech continues to exploit consumers in the name of extreme profits while the FTC sits idly by. We need bold action and real accountability to protect working people from corporate abuse.
'Drop in the Bucket': Lina Khan Rips Trump FTC for Giving Amazon a Wrist-Slap Settlement
House Republicans just passed a funding bill that does nothing to make health care more affordable. Instead, they doubled down on their Big Ugly Law that rips care from 17 Million Americans, all while prices soar and their donors get tax breaks.
I joined The USO and other Members of Congress to assemble a total of 2,000 care packages for our service members.    Once deployed, access to essential supplies may be limited. These packages can really go a long way.   Today, and every day, thank you for your service!
The First Amendment isn't a privilege granted by the President or the FCC, it's a constitutional right. Corporate media must stand firm against these attacks, not cave to a wannabe dictator & his henchmen. These threats against democracy won’t be ignored. We’ll hold those responsible accountable.
The Affordable Care Act premium tax credits are a lifeline for countless Americans across the country. If Congressional Republicans let these tax credits expire, 22 million people will be forced to pay higher premiums. We can't afford to pay higher health costs.
Hispanic heritage is American heritage! This Hispanic Heritage Month, we don’t just celebrate culture, we celebrate the generations of Latino immigrants, workers, and organizers who’ve built this nation. Let’s commit to protecting the rights and dignity of all who call this country home.
We can't let Trump and Dr. Oz turn traditional Medicare into Medicare Advantage. Each year, millions of seniors on Medicare Advantage are unfairly denied the care they need. We must protect traditional Medicare. Lives are at stake!
Dr. Oz and the Trump administration are planning a pilot program to require prior authorization for traditional Medicare, including using AI to determine who needs care.
Juan López, a tireless leader in Honduras & a well-known environmental defender, was assassinated one year ago today for defending natural resources & opposing corruption in his homeland. This week, I joined my colleagues in calling on Secretary of State Marco Rubio to pursue justice in the case.
Too many communities across the country face a shortage of health care providers. My EMPOWER for Health Act will reauthorize needed funding for workforce training programs to help meet our health care needs.
I applaud the FTC for using the tools granted to them by this legislation to ensure transparency in online marketplaces. We need consistent, bipartisan enforcement and action from the FTC to ensure bad actors are held accountable. Consumers deserve to know their products are safe and legitimate.
