Every American wants an efficient, effective government—there’s work we can do to achieve that. But what DOGE is doing - taking a chainsaw to our federal workforce HURTS Americans. It makes us less safe, less healthy, and drains experienced workers who make the government serve YOU better.
Chaos on the House Floor this evening as Republicans flip-flop on voting on their budget that would gut Medicaid.
This should be an easy vote.
I joined every House Democrat to vote NO on their disgraceful budget. Here is my statement on this evening's vote.
The American people want Congress to make their lives at least a little bit easier. Republicans are trying to do the opposite.
Democrats’ priorities are:
☑️lowering costs for families
☑️access to affordable healthcare
☑️actually improving people’s lives
Because that’s what your family deserves.
Republicans just backed down from their morally bankrupt budget that would:
➡️be the largest Medicaid cut in US history
➡️tear support away from kids, seniors, people w/ disabilities
➡️make it harder for hungry families to get food assistance
➡️slash support for farmers
🚨RIGHT NOW Republicans trying to get the votes to pass the largest cut to Medicaid in US history.
I am a NO on the GOP budget.
This is the OPPOSITE of helping Americans get by and get ahead.

I will vote NO WAY on the GOP plan to gut Medicaid.
24,000 people who receive coverage under the Affordable Care Act would see their average premium go up by $960 per year — a 34% increase.
61,000 people in IL-10 who count on SNAP to put food on the table risk benefits being cut.
137,496 people on Medicaid are at risk of losing their health care under Republican budget plans.
This includes 66,790 children and 16,000 seniors over 65.
Republicans are forcing a vote in the House today on a reckless budget that betrays YOU, all to pay for giveaways to billionaires like Elon Musk.
