Stepped into the shoes of our restaurant workers to be a “Server for an Hour” at Los Tres Cochinitos in #Wilmington alongside One Fair Wage. Servers across #LosAngeles and the country are on their feet for hours every day to make a living — they’ll tell you tipped wages aren't a livable income.
A horrific act of absolute cowardice— to commit an act of violence towards praying children in a house of worship. While our thoughts and prayers are with the children, families and all those impacted, we must also take action. We must end gun violence — NOW.
UPDATE: 2 children are dead, 17 people injured in Minneapolis school shooting
Secretary Rubio: Babies in Gaza are being killed by bombs and starvation. This is horrific.   Heed Rep. @pressley.house.gov & Rep. @pettersen.house.gov’s calls— it’s long past time for a ceasefire and a surge of humanitarian aid, especially baby formula.
Happy #WomensEqualityDay! 105 years ago today, the Nineteenth Amendment was adopted — giving women the right to vote.  The fight continues to this day for women's equality — in representation, pay, and reproductive rights. We won’t stop pushing until true equality is achieved.
Proud to have K2 Space in my district. They are making space missions once thought impossible, possible. Their innovative next-generation satellites will have a global impact while also putting our community at the forefront of aerospace innovation and good-paying jobs.
Edwards Lifesciences is advancing innovative heart valve technologies. It was incredible to see the dedication and hard work that goes into improving access to lifesaving screenings and technologies for people fighting cardiovascular diseases.
The cost of living is too damn high. As part of @housedemocrats.bsky.social Cost of Living Week of Action, I met with parents, seniors, and business owners at Sirens Java and Tea in #SanPedro to hear how they’ve all felt the increased cost of living from Trump’s tariffs & Republicans’ Big Ugly Law.
The Trump Admin is once again putting profit over people. This time, by trying to give away Oak Flat—2,400 acres of sacred land—to a foreign mining giant. This isn’t just an attack on Indigenous sovereignty. It’s a threat to our environment, our economy, and our national security.
Families shouldn’t have to choose between paying bills and buying their kids’ school supplies. But Trump’s reckless tariffs are driving up prices—making back-to-school season more expensive for every parent. We need solutions that lower costs, not politics that make life harder.
Called out Trump’s reckless decision to cancel union contracts at #LongBeach VA alongside #AFGE, AFGE Local 1061, & LA Labor Fed. I’ll keep fighting to protect workers’ rights & ensure veterans get the care they earned. #HouseDemocrats continue to show up to #HonorOurVeterans & #StandUpForWorkers!
Met with seniors today at #Lynwood Senior Center to mark 90 yrs of Social Security benefits for hardworking Americans - and to hear how Trump’s cuts have made it harder to get benefits you’ve earned.   Reminder on this #SaveSocialSecurity Day of Action: It’s YOUR money. YOUR benefits. OUR promise.
Welcome back to school, #LAUSD students! Today at Carson Academies of Education and Empowerment, I was joined by LAUSD Superintendent Carvalho where we heard from high school students earning college credit through the Dual Enrollment program  — saving time and money for our best & brightest!
Trump & Republicans Big Ugly Law screws working families to give even more to the rich and elite.   Don't take my word for it — that's what the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office just found.    Wish I could say I’m surprised, but this is exactly what we should expect at this point.
This is an embarrassment to the career men & women of DOJ and a slap in the face to our brave law enforcement officers who protected our democracy on Jan. 6. This guy should be sitting in a jail cell not behind a desk at DOJ — spineless Republicans will continue to say and do nothing.
Trump put a Jan. 6 rioter— who repeatedly urged the crowd to “kill” Capitol Police and other officers at the Capitol as they were being brutally assaulted by Trump’s mob —in a senior position at the Department of Justice. www.npr.org/2025/08/07/n...
