This week as we celebrate the 90th Birthday of #SocialSecurity I joined Area office on Aging and local leaders to break ground on the new Margaret Hunt Senior Center. This new facility will provide nutrition, access to social wellness programs, technology classes, help with transportation, and more.
Cutting NASA is a loss for science, exploration, and jobs. I’m honored to represent Ohio, the birthplace of aviation, which helped send American astronauts to the stars above. This will devastate NASA Glenn facilities in northern Ohio and the local communities they help support!
Today in South Toledo we opened Dani’s Place, a sanctuary for healing in NW Ohio that honors the life of Danielle “Dani” Leedy. Working alongside Donna and Jeff Heck of 33 Forever and NAMI Ohio we brought home $2 Million in federal funds for this facility to help those making a recovery journey.
90 years into Social Security, we must be vigilant against threats. Politicization of economic data raises the threat of tampered inflation data—this data is necessary to ensure seniors and retirees get their COLA adjustments. You earned your retirement—it shouldn’t be subject to political games.
Enjoying the great outdoors of NW Ohio with a visit to Secor Metropark and Howard Marsh. GLRI, NOAA and other federal and state investments in our ecosystems and communities mean a healthier watershed and Lake Erie western basin.
Once again, federal investments are paying off for NW Ohio. BGSU’s Shallow Run Watershed Project is showing progress to improve Lake Erie water quality. Led by Dr. Jay Martin, this partnership of farmers, researchers, and local leaders proves new practices can cut runoff and protect our Great Lakes!
A joy to be with @UAW.org for its Back to School event packing bags for children in need. Every child should feel confident as they start a new school year, and I was glad to help out. Thank you to UAW Local 12 for all you do to lift up our NW Ohio Communities.
The Festival of India hosted by the Hindu Temple of Toledo at Centennial Terrace brings together our NW Ohio and SE Michigan Indian-American communities to celebrate their heritage. Thrilled to join in the celebration!
Stripping families of free cancer screenings, diabetes checks, and life-saving preventive care by replacing trusted medical experts with political allies is sinister. He's trading science and safety for "ideology" and it's our communities, especially rural ones, who will pay the price.
Union busting is disgusting. The Trump Administration is working to fire tens of thousands at the VA including countless veterans. This will immediately harm vulnerable vets! As a proud union daughter I was taught what unions mean: honor—dignity—solidarity. We MUST stand up for veterans and workers.
Today we mourn the passing of Jim Lovell, a legendary NASA astronaut who visited space 4 times including his command of the Apollo 13 mission. Jim made us all proud, and his legacy of travel to the stars, and moon above will not soon be forgotten. Rest in peace Commander Lovell.
On board the Glass City Pearl with Lake Erie Waterkeepers and local leaders to view some of the beauty of our precious Lake Erie. Still much work to be done to protect this great natural asset for future generations.
Today, as part of the #HonorOurVeterans Day of Action, I visited the Toledo VA to listen to veterans, and medical staff. Our veterans sacrificed so much. Our gratitude for them must be shown not just today—but every day. I will never stop fighting for those whose work for us to preserve Liberty.
Outrageous! Must be why he wasn’t available to meet about his Big Bonanza for Billionaires Bill which will devastate Ohio manufacturing jobs and our rural hospitals. The Army Corps of Engineers should share records with relevant committees of jurisdiction in Congress.
An honored tradition as the Federal Court hosted naturalization ceremonies swearing-in new citizens to our nation. I would not be where I am today if my family had not come to build a better life for themselves in NW Ohio. America is a nation of immigrants who breathe fresh life into our communities
Maumee and Monclova welcomed the new US 20A interchange at I-475/US 23 this week. Improved public safety along Illinois Avenue will help ensure safety for travelers on this busy interstate corridor. Honored to help improve public safety through our region.
